Full speed embed! Introducing a new way to Smart Link

This is nice and looking forward to see what is next.

Quick questions:

  1. Is there any chance that it will work with any other custom field type, other than rich text (aka paragraph)?
  2. Are you considering creating a new macro in confluence that allows populated a field (e.g. a specific table cell) with the content available at a specific custom field of an issue type?
  3. And if you also include a body where you can change the entire content by just changing the issue type number? This would allow us to create new pages/reports with less friction, thus potentially making the Confluence our repository for Experiment (A/B test) results.

Thanks
Flavio

@D_M_Isca Awesome feedback about the excerpt! We will definitely consider that in our next iteration of the feature. 🙂

Hi @Ryan Beller Which web browser are you using? Does this issue happen when you are using Chrome?

Hi @Elizabeth Sprouse Only users with permissions to that page will be able to access it (you won't have to worry that unauthorized people will have access to that page). 🙂

@Lennon Liao I was using Chrome. I also tried Chrome incognito mode with the same error. I can, however using the link in Jira (above the failed embed) to go over to Confluence and see the page using my current user/session. So I know it's not a permissions issue.

Great feature, we are already using it.

But we are still really disappointed in your Product Team...

Why do you force tech people to use 'smart links' by default? In 99% of the cases, our tech team wants to show full URL's in specs and comments. Why is this discussion JRACLOUD-72429 still not solved?

Thanks for the feedback on the embed feature @Wouter🙂

As for smartlinks by default, rest assured that we're hard at work on this. We hear you loud and clear and are coming up with solutions to address your pain points. The latest updates would be available on JRACLOUD-72429

@Lennon Liao

We were using this ok and then it stopped working. Is there an issue with this implementation?

Hi @Arby Leon  This feature should be working as per normal. Can you describe what is the issue you are currently experiencing? Thanks!

Will this be available for Data Center?   Is so, what would the timeline be.   Thanks.

Hi @Badana Shanmukha Teja and @Daniel DuBravec This feature is only available on Confluence Cloud. We currently have no plans to support this on Server and Data Center, but will keep you posted if anything changed. Thank you.

@Lennon Liao here is the error message we're getting:

Unable to display page content

You can still view this page in Confluence by clicking here.

Ok, if this option is available in cloud version, then is there any possibility to get this feature through some 3rd party plugins? If yes, please let us know

Hi @Lennon Liao this is a useful addition, but please please please enable us to define the default behaviour. I would estimate that 90% of the time I past a URL into a Jira ticket I want it to show the URL and not convert to a smart link.

What I want is to be able to specify the default behaviour of a smart link to be "Display URL"

I feel like all the effort spent adding this feature is catering for 10% of my needs whereas 90% of my time I spend CTRL-Z the smart link to get the URL back.

Hi @Arby Leon What web browser are you using (Chrome, Safari etc)? Often times, the root cause is that your web browser has blocked 3rd-party cookies which results in that blank screen. You can try to switch your settings to unblock 3rd-party cookies and see if that solves the problem. Happy to have a call with you to discuss further.  Thanks.image.png

Hi @Lennon Liao

Did you have the chance to check my comment on Feb. 9th?

Thanks

Arby Leon March 21, 2022

@Lennon Liao, using Chrome 99.0.4844.74 on MacOS 10.13.6. I'll check and get back to you.

Thank you in advance for the help.

Arby Leon March 21, 2022

@Lennon Liao, once I activated the 3rd party cookies it started functioning again. This most likely must have been caused by a chrome update. Thank you!

Hi @Flavio De Souza Sorry I missed your earlier message. We currently don't support those 3 workflows that you described. However, we will definitely take these suggestions into consideration as we explore new ways to make our Jira and Confluence integration work even better. Would love to discuss this in detail with you and better understand your workflow.

@Lennon Liao Is this feature with embeded smart links for all Cloud instances already available?

In my CloudSite I do not see the option:
