Confluence magic shortcuts

Confluence: The collaboration tool that serves the need of product documentation, Knowledge base, project planning activities or for blogging.

You will start enjoying the confluence tool, if you try your hands with keyboard shortcuts.

Okay, so how will I access the short cut's menu?

In the confluence home page, simply click on Shift+? to launch the short cuts window.

Atlassian has classified the shortcuts in 3 categories:

  • General – Global, page and blog post shortcuts.

  • Editor – Text editing and formatting shortcuts that apply to the legacy editor.

  • Editor Autoformatting – Wiki mark up and autoformatting shortcuts that apply to the legacy editor.

Here's an overview of all category shortcuts in the latest confluence version.

Hi @G subramanyam do you know the shortcut on a mac to add an attachment? I can't add an attachment using Ctrl + M on Confluence on my mac using this, but most of the others work. Thank you !

Thanks for the post. Is there any other shortcuts, such as Split Cell or Merge?

Any hotkey for indent/outdent? I tend to do a lot of this when creating bullet/numbered lists. Really breaks up the flow to grab the mouse and click those buttons over and over. Thanks!

Thnx, @G subramanyam

Additional shortcuts:

  • italic: Ctrl+I
  • red icon with cross, like green checkmark: (x)

BTW: I would appreciate a shortcut for strike-through, like Ctrl+B for bold or Ctrl+I for italic. This way, it would be possible to highlight some text/content with either mouse or keyboard (e.g. several cells of a table) and press the corresponding shortcut.

How does one select a table while in edit mode, the entire table, all rows and columns?

I would like to select a table so I can convert it to a Page Property. In a previous version of Confluence, I was able to triple-click the left outside margin of a table to select it all, then select a Page Properties macro to convert (i.e. add) the table to the Page Property macro. Now after an update, this triple-click "feature" is gone, so for now, I have to left-click and wave the mouse around the entire table to select it. When the tables is large, and scrolling is needed, this is very cumbersome. Would love to discover some shortcut to select a table.

Using Ctrl+Alt combinations for shortcuts on Windows is not recommended, since Ctrl+Alt = AltGr.

https://devblogs.microsoft.com/oldnewthing/20040329-00/?p=40003

So... for me, setting Heading 2 with Ctrl+Alt+2 does not work.... it produces an "@" sign....

Any plans for changing shortcut combinations to something that is actually useful?
