Confluence Holiday Workshop: Mad Libs

Hi Confluence Community and happy December! ✨ As the end of the year approaches, this month is often a time of reflection for both teams and individuals. However, the holiday season is also a joyful time – and the perfect opportunity to channel your inner-child! Our first activity of the Confluence Holiday Workshop sits right at the intersection of these things…We’ve created a Mad Libs that will hopefully spark some thoughtful reflection…and goofiness! Here’s how it works:

1. Copy + paste the numbered list below (“Word Bank”) and fill it out with the word(s) listed for each item
2. Populate the blank spaces in the Mad Libs text with the corresponding numbered words from your word bank list – you can utilize the graphic template below OR copy/paste the body text 
3. Share your results with us in the comments of this post!

It was the end of the year and the 1.cheery 2.Services team had 3.excitedly gathered for a year-end retrospective. Outside the weather was 4.snazzy, but the mood was 5.gold  as 2.the Services team reflected on their 6.delicious year. They had faced plenty of 7.delicious challenges as a 8.hybrid team, but 2.the Services team navigated them 9.calmly. In fact, they even 10.consolidated redundant flavor factories. How did they do it? With 11.buttercream, of course! They also utilized Confluence to 12.centralize knowledge on their favorite recipes. 2.The Services team had mastered 13.a birds-eye view of their inventory with the help of 14.page properties report. They were confident that the year ahead would bring more 15.amicable 16.tacocats because of their 17.honest communication style.

First, 8 year old me would have replaced everything with the word "butt".  I'll let you read through what that would end up like on your own.  If you are still immature like me, you may even chuckle at it :)

Here's how mine ended up:

It was the end of the year and the energetic R&D Team had secretly gathered for a year-end retrospective. Outside the weather was bold, but the mood was courageous as the R&D Team reflected on their curious year. They had faced plenty of eager challenges as a hybrid team, but the R&D Team navigated them often. In fact, they even successfully split their Confluence Instance into smaller spaces. How did they do it? With a baby, of course! They also utilized Confluence to share information with the entire company. The R&D Team had mastered tasks with the help of Page Templates. They were confident that the year ahead would bring more quick computers because of their collaboration.

Outside the weather was blizzard, but the mood was sunny as the Confluence Operations team reflected on their substantive year. They had faced plenty of eager challenges as a operation with only 2 people team, but the self-organized Team navigated them often.

In fact, they even successfully completed the version upgrade from 6.15 to 7.13. How did they do it? With Uninterrupted service, of course! They also utilized Confluence to share information with the entire company.

The Confluence Operations team had mastered new features with the page analytics. They were confident that the year ahead would bring more User PV because of their hot spot tracking and continuous user experience improvement.

They had faced plenty of 7. demanding challenges as a 8. remote team, but 2. Operations Team navigated them 9. serenely. In fact, they even 10. consolidated multiple Jira instances. How did they do it? With 11. meticulous documentation, of course! They also utilized Confluence to 12. share knowledge across the organization. 2. Operations Team had mastered 13. reporting with the help of 14. page analytics. They were confident that the year ahead would bring more 15. satisfied 16. customers because of their 17. open communication.

In fact, they even 10.migrated to Cloud and open a Zen garden at the office. How did they do it? With 11.Atlassian (and a gardener 🤫) , of course! They also utilized Confluence to 12. have Multi Project planning overview. 2.PM Team had mastered 13. Stakeholder information & Alignment with the help of 14.Meeting Notes, Reports and @mentions. They were confident that the year ahead would bring more 15.brave 16.Bonsais because of their 17.Zen-garden.

Outside the weather was dreary, but the mood was exuberant as Hawkins middle school A.V. club team reflected on their extraordinary year. They had faced plenty of extraterrestrial challenges as a distributed team, but Hawkins middle school A.V. club team navigated them splendidly. In fact, they even rolled out JSM to better keep track of all the new activities in the club. How did they do it? With Scott Clarke, of course! They also utilized Confluence to document and categorize every detail. Hawkins middle school A.V. club team had mastered the alien categorization with the help of templates and @mentions. They were confident that the year ahead would bring more exuberance creatures because of their outstanding innovative thinking and extra high technology adoption rate.

They had faced plenty of 7.brave challenges as a 8.remote team, but 2.Trello nerds navigated them 9.quickly. In fact, they even 10.told more people about Trello. How did they do it? With 11.enthusiasts, of course! They also utilized Confluence to 12.document Trello strategies. 2.Trello nerds had mastered 13.building Trello boards with the help of 14.embedding pages. They were confident that the year ahead would bring more 15.loud 16.puppies because of their 17.teamwork.

It was the end of the year and the evergreen Production Team had curiously gathered for a year-end retrospective. Outside the weather was gloomy, but the mood was cheery as Production Team reflected on their challenging year. They had faced plenty of productive challenges as a remote team, but Production Team navigated them confidently. In fact, they even managed to shoot an episode for their series though team was globally distributed. How did they do it? With technology, of course! They also utilized Confluence to share script pages with respective cast & crew. Production Team had mastered script secrecy with the help of Page restrictions in Confluence. They were confident that the year ahead would bring more loyal audiences because of their effective collaboration skills.

Outside the weather was Potato-like,, but the mood was Attractive as the Communiteam reflected on their Magical year. They had faced plenty of Triangular challenges as a Remote team, but the Communiteam navigated them Oddly. In fact, they even glowed-up community contests. How did they do it? With Fun Man Andy’s Speedo, of course! They also utilized Confluence to Blog about success. The Communiteam had mastered project management with the help of the status lozenge. They were confident that the year ahead would bring more disruptive community posts because of their mutual respect.

They also utilized Confluence to knowledge base. The Content Design team had mastered reviewing with the help of inline comments. They were confident that the year ahead would bring more silly film because of their collaboration.

Outside the weather was gloomy, but the mood was elated as DevOps Team reflected on their rough year. They had faced plenty of unexpected challenges as a remote team, but DevOps Team navigated them thrivingly. In fact, they even surpassed 2020’s achievements. How did they do it? With perseverance, of course! They also utilized Confluence to guide other remote teams. DevOps Team had mastered writing good documentation with the help of Code Snippet. They were confident that the year ahead would bring more successful ultimatums because of their unity.

Outside the weather was Snowy, but the mood was Jovial as the Service Desk Team reflected on their Blue year. They had faced plenty of Pointy challenges as a Remote team, but the Service Desk Team navigated them Slowly. In fact, they even Rolled out Windows 11. How did they do it? With a Puppy, of course! They also utilized Confluence to Add a Knowledgebase. Service Desk Team had mastered Approvals with the help of Decisions. They were confident that the year ahead would bring more Warm Sleighs because of their Cohesion.

It was the end of the year and the fast, marketing team had soon gathered for a year-end retro. Outside the weather was stressful, but the mood was exciting as marketing team reflect on their cold year. They had faced plenty of festive challenges as a hybrid team, but marketing navigate them always. In fact, they even hired new teammates. How did they do it? With cookie (lol) of course! They also utilized Confluence to project collaboration, marketing had mastered design requests with the help of inline comments. They were confident that they year ahead would bring them more smooth eggnog (whoops ha) because of their insync(ness).

Impressed with how much that makes sense! Minus the seasonal cookies and eggnog references ;)

Outside the weather was horrendous, but the mood was mad as CLM-MOPs team reflected on their cute year.

They had faced plenty of hard challenges as a remote team, but CLM-MOPs team navigated them quickly. In fact, they even created a lead scoring governance. How did they do it? With a lamppost, of course!

They also utilized Confluent to project document. CLM-MOPs team had mastered setting up a new lead score with the help of search. The were confident that the year ahead would bring more smooth phones because of their agility.

The team had mastered workflows with the help of decision reports. They were confident that the year ahead would bring more laughing Lillies because of their determination.
