Archiving a Space

In Cloud, go to the space settings area and click the “manage space” option in the left sidebar. Then click the “Archive space” tab. Again, there’s some information presented before the archival occurs. But this time, nothing is deleted and there is a restore option.

As mentioned, Data Center can archive both pages and spaces. Server however can only archive spaces. Here’s where to find space archive option for those deployment types.

Click “Space Tools” in the left sidebar and click “overview”. Then click “Edit Space Details” at the top of the page.

On the next page, use the drop down menu to change the space’s status from “Current” to “Archived”. Then click the form submission button. This action can be undone and redone at any time.

Let me note that in addition to manually archiving spaces and pages, you can intelligently automate that with the Better Content Archiving for Confluence app. It provides automatic content lifecycle management features for Confluence Cloud, for Data Center and Server, too.

In case you want to automate archiving and establish review workflows for outdated pages, you might also check out the Breeze Confluence plugin.

It's a full content lifecycle management solution with lots of features for housekeeping Confluence spaces.
