Confluence Automation + Folders = Content Organization at Scale ❤️

👋 Community! Avinoam from Confluence Automation here again and this time to let you know that Automation for Confluence now supports Folders!

How it works

In the rule builder, you'll see a new "Folder Created" triggers as well as a "Create Folder" action. This will allow you to drive automated workflows to keep content even more organized at scale with the use of Folders. Here are some quick screen shots:

Some quick use cases to keep in mind are moving content if a folder was added or creating a new folder if content has certain labels or information which would make more sense to group in a folder for better organization and findability.

When will this be available

These are already available for all Premium and Enterprise using Automation for Confluence, for those that already have Folders rolled out to their site, as Folders is still in the midst of a gradual rollout - so if you don't see it yet, you will soon :)

We want to hear from you!

Are there plans to add folders as an option under IF statements in Confluence automation? For example: When a page is published, if it's under x folder then add label y

I would also like for Confluence automations to have the ability to auto-edit page labels based on the folder they are either created under or moved into / out of.

Hi @Avinoam

It's a useful feature, but as folders are typically created once to make the structure of the space, it would be more beneficial to be able to condition actions based on specific folders that pages are located in.

Any thoughts on when this might be possible?

It could be done through smart values by supporting {{page.folder.title}} like you have with {{page.parent.title}}

Cheers, Malene

If in your rule you can filter the pages using CQL, then using the "ancestor" field you can filter the pages by their parent/grandparents/etc. It should work.
