Add a link to an image in Confluence Cloud

Hi Community!

I’m Jonno, a Product Manager for the editor in our cloud products. I’m here to announce an exciting editor improvement you’ve been asking for and we’ve been working on - image links!

For a bit of history, in the old editor, we provided the ability to add a link to any image. From talking to you, we know how much value it provided so it’s been something we’ve wanted to bring back in the Cloud Editor for quite some time. That time has finally come and we’re incredibly excited to share our new and improved image linking functionality with you!

By adding a link to an image, you are able to turn any image into an actionable button that directs readers to a relevant Confluence page, Jira project, or any other URL on the web. Adding a link is as easy as clicking the link icon in the floating toolbar below the image.

What’s better, for those of you who use Confluence and Jira Cloud, this functionality will soon exist in the editor for Jira as well!

We hope you’re just as excited by image linking as we are! Let us know what you think in the comments below.

Cheers,

Jonno | Product Manager | Atlassian Cloud Editor

We have been using this function for a long time. It would be nice to fix the printing of pages with Cyrillic letters.

Does this only work for linking to other confluence pages? Trying to link to badges on Azure DevOps seems impossible

Nice that a removed feature finally  reoccur!

While you're at it, pls also restore this useful feature:

Great news! Is there a way to change the text when you hover over the image? It currently shows the file name. It would be nice if it showed the link instead.

Could you please address this issue as well: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONFCLOUD-65749 - it is amazing that fundamental web elements are missing...

(Issue is the ability to embed an image from another site as an URL. Basically ye ol <img src="...> tag. )
