🔢 Crunching numbers and counting rows: New features in Confluence databases

Hey everyone 👋

We heard you loud and clear… simple calculations and numbered entries are here!

Simple calculations

Simple calculations can be used for a range of tasks such as

  • Budget/expense tracking e.g., total revenue by summing sales items

  • Campaign metrics e.g., ROI for different campaigns

  • Customer satisfaction score tracking e.g., average ratings for customer satisfaction

To perform a simple calculation:

Click Calculate below any field and select the calculation you would like.

Note: If you don’t see a Calculate button below the field you want to perform calculations for, hover over the space below the field.

Alternatively, click on any field’s handle, go to Calculate in the dropdown, and select a calculation.

  1. Navigate to View settings by going to Edit view from a view’s dropdown.

  2. Select Table.

  3. Under Table options, toggle Number entries on.

This is a fantastic step forward! I hope the next step is to allow the creation of columns that can have simple calculations with values from other columns. A use case could be to multiply the number of assets by its cost and get the total cost for each row.

So this is awesome! I'm gonna share this immediately with my team 😄

One question though - I'm personally tracking expenses in Jira, as regular issues, and there's a custom number field for the amount/price. I've connected this particular project with the database and added this field to the table. As far as I can see, calculations for these Jira fields are not yet supported. Any plans on expanding this feature to these types of fields as well?

@Christina Ristevski wasn't this feature present for some time now, or is this an improvement?

I like the feature, it's lightweight. What I am missing is - enable calculations not only for number entities, but also Database entry (if it is a link to a number entity), Jira field details (numbered fields)

Very useful! Would be amazing if you could introduce frozen columns next please 🙏
