Need to use a special character

I need to write a name that uses accents (original name is in French). I have seen the instructions. Go to Insert, then to Symbol, and a pop-up should let me choose the special character. 

But "Symbol" is not listed under the "Insert" menu. So is there more than one "Insert" menu, and if so, where is the one I need to get to the "Symbol" so I can click on it to get the pop-up?

the user can set an individual site homepage in his profile: https://confluence.atlassian.com/doc/edit-your-user-settings-1016023.html

But this page has to be created first and the whole process is not very intuitive for first time users.

Other than that, there is no out of the box way to set up dashboards for users

I'd like to know if you are able to have a shared view and a personal view of one page for example the dashboard without using an extension of Confluence.
