Change username for Cloud Jira / Confluence

The docs for Confluence mention that your personal space will show your username. Unfortunately, for my team, that results in URLs that look like this:

<site>.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/~329169269/

Half an hour of research has turned up a lot of documentation that seems to be out of date for the latest Cloud version of Jira / Confluence, conflicting information about the ability to update a username, pointers about going to https://id.atlassian.com/ (which allows changing the Full Name, but not username), and yet not one single documentation page that seems authoritative or definitive on this topic.

I'm inclined to believe that it is not possible to change the username -- and yet can't believe that we're stuck with URLs like the one above. Is that indeed the case?

Hi Ariel,

Some possibilities to consider:

  • Check if you are using any proxy or redirection for the instance
  • As mentioned by Jobin, check for the Base Url of the instance
  • Check if the URL for the space creation is different than the ones expected for when you are creating a Confluence content

Hope it helps ya!

Cheers,
