For server version there is a published macro but the online macro choice is very constrained. A version number seems like a fairly basic requirement.
If you do not want to make the complete Confluence site available for public access you can set up a space for your forum and assign the relevant space permissions to 'Anonymous':

Would you consider making the site public access? That way, people could comment without loggin in.
