In reference to the "Content Report Table Macro" within a Confluence Cloud instanceI have 2 questions:
I'm really surprised there is no way to dynamically insert a variable from the page into a parameter within a macro; seems like that would be a very powerful feature :/

Unfortunately, that's not the purpose of this macro. It's just a simple report based on table, the parent page is not a filter, nor a column.
I agree that it would be a powerful feature. I'd suggest to have a look at the Marketplace to check if there are any apps that would help your cover this request.
Otherwise, you can always post it as a suggestion to Atlassian.
