Reducing “Tech Debt” and Increasing Performance: A Case Study in Automation

vote

Are you expected to improve performance, reduce costs and remove risk from your daily work processes? If they aren’t, they will be soon. This tug of war rages throughout fintech companies – having emerged from the marriage of the financial sector’s traditional values and hi-tech companies’ insatiable appetite for growth.
After attending this session, you will know how a company turned to automation to:
Reduce its tech debt
Optimize complex approvals
Minimize backlog requests
In this inspiring case study session, we explore how a Jira administrator and Scrum Leader - at an international fintech company - chose automation tools to improve how Jira was applied in development and operational team. We cover topics Jira administrators face every day, including: how automation effectively tackles predefined actions and certain transitions, “vulnerability and security escalation”, and ways to reduce the cost of technology by leveraging code-free workflows.

Move work forward with quality and speed

vote

Reduce time to minutes between a change request to production deployment. Post-deployment verifications, paired with Atlassian tools like Jira, Compass and Rlsly.com help you ensure high quality and optimal development speed. In this session, you will learn:
- how we build software using Atlassian and Microsoft tools like Jira, Compass, GitHub, Microsoft Teams and CircleCI
- how we ensure high quality with automated end-to-end post-deployment verifications that run against multiple envs, but are developed once
- how we communicate with customers using Rlsly.com and Atlassian tools like Jira Service Management and Trello

How Jira/Confluence helped to bring the German Health Insurance Card on Track

vote

We have seen the first real implementation of the Gesundheitskarte in 2017. What happened? The rules for the base VPN were based on the rules by Gematik. Those rules were huge. Every provider had to fulfill all the regulations to the date they were applying. I will present how it is possible to read the requirements and use Jira/Confluence as the foundation for a semi-automatic framework. In the end, automated Tests and the full documentation were living documents. In this session, I will present how state-based requirements look like and take the real Gematik documents as the source. I will show how the different Versions can be transferred into Jira Tickets and how you can use this as a base for a Test-Documentation. We will see how parameters can be accessed in Jira and how to cooperate over different divisions.

The Easy Button: How to drive efficiencies with product visibility

vote

Many Healthcare organizations in 2020 grew fast. Yet, when a product grows to this scale, it can become harder and harder to understand what’s happening in real-time, let alone ensure alignment for the future. In this session, you will hear best practices and how-to best align product organizations to scale with the upmost efficient and effectiveness and learn what tools your product management team needs to have in their toolbox to continue to scale with less. This session will outline best practices and real-life examples on how to scale product teams, using Jira and Productboard so the entire product, engineer and design teams are aligned and driving towards the same goal.

Who broke the build? — Using Kuttl to improve E2E testing and release faster

vote

No one wants to be responsible for breaking the build. But what can you do as a developer to avoid being the bad guy? How can project leads enable their teams to reduce the occurrence of broken builds?
That’s why we decided to rethink our entire local testing process .Connecting Kuttl to CI builds has empowered our devs to easily configure a dev environment locally that accurately matches the final test environment
These days, we hear “Who broke the build?" far less often and you can too!
In this session, we’ll discuss how we use kuttl to achieve more streamlined testing and fewer broken builds. We’ll cover:
- A quick history of our testing challenges and what led us to Kuttl
- The benefits of our new testing approach — easy to configure and minimal investment
- How we combine Kuttl and CI pipelines for more streamlined testing and fewer broken builds

Shifting Security Left using Atlassian and OSS Tools

vote

The session will cover how developers can leverage Atlassian tools (BitBucket, Jira & Confluence) and integrate with some of OSS tools to shift security left in SDLC.Key takeaways for the audience would be, the ideas and designs on how to shift DevSecOps left in prescriptive and automated ways. This topic is very relevant as shifting security left will help the dev community in reducing the lead time using quick-start boilerplates, Continuous Threat model assessment, security quality gates etc Shift left in SDLC with Atlassian tools. Fail fast with shorted feedback loops using quick start boilerplates, continuous threat model assessment and security gates in CI phase. The entire orchestration will be managed by Atlassian tools integrated with other tool-chains to provide seamless Developer Experience.

Deep-dive on Automation for JIRA

vote

Automation is a critical link to transforming digital operations, standardizing processes, improving efficiency, and cutting down on hours of manual labor. In this session, we will look at how automation in Jira can empower your team to automate even the most complex tasks. For example, automation can help with cloud migrations by replacing existing apps that are not yet supported in the cloud. In this session, we will share examples of complex use cases for automation that have saved hours of work for clients, using the native automation features in Jira and Confluence. Example scenarios will include:
* Complex scripts that we were able to replace with Automation for Jira while migrating from Server to Cloud
* Automate tasks creation using templates with pre-defined values and hierarchy (eg: Epic → Story → Sub-task)
* Automated notifications
* Integrate with other marketplace apps

Agile at scale: Fantasy or reality? Myth or verity? legend or documentary?

vote

Are you wondering if Agile at scale is just a buzzword, or a viable approach for your organization? In this session, we will delve into the concepts of Agile at scale, examining what it is, how it works, and how it can be supported with Atlassian tools.
We will also explore various Agile frameworks that can be used to implement Agile at scale, including SAFe, Spotify, and others. You'll learn about the benefits of each framework, as well as the challenges you may face in implementing them.
Let us take you on an epic journey exploring different agile frameworks, methodologies and techniques that claim to help you scale agile successfully. Along the way we’ll get to the bottom of whether agile practices can really scale in the enterprise - providing concrete examples of what can go right - and wrong.
