[skip ci] Does not work on manual pipeline runs

Gajesh Bhat July 5, 2024

Hello Atlassian team,

We know that using the [skip ci] in the commit message does not trigger the pipeline on Bitbucket Pipelines when that particular commit is pushed to remote. But when you Run the pipeline manually using the Run Pipelines button in the pipelines tab, It executes the pipelines. Is this behavior expected or in-consistent ? The documentation isn't clear about this  https://confluence.atlassian.com/bbkb/how-to-skip-triggering-a-pipeline-build-using-skip-ci-label-1207188270.html

The [skip ci] directive is meant to bypass pipeline executions when a commit is performed only.  It won't work when you manually execute a pipeline run.
