new VDI session with sourcetree leads to CAPTCHA Error

Hello Atlassian Community and Support Team,

Our developers use VDI as their virtual desktop and use sourcetree for any related GIT interaction with our BitBucket application.

Our IT organization has recently established a new VDI environment and have requested developers to migrate their old VDI host to a new VDI from the new VDI infrastructure environment. All of their previous software installation, configuration and user file will be retain when they migrate to the new VDI host.

Developers are now encountering numerous BitBucket CAPTCHA errors on a daily basis within their new VDI host.

The following are the steps they are performing to their new VDI host

  1. Migrated to the new TriNet VDI environment
  2. Before using sourcetree, developers reconfigured their sourcetree software with their current BitBucket Personal Access Token
  3. Started using sourcetree  and then developers encountered the BitBucket CAPTCHA error

Does sourcetree cache any data related to the old VDI host that may be confusing BitBucket even if the developers have reconfigured their sourcetree software to use their existing BitBucket Personal Access Token??

Clear contents of below files placed in your source tree folder.


{your user path}\AppData\Local\Atlassian\SourceTree\userhost
{your user path}\AppData\Local\Atlassian\SourceTree\passwd

Then restart SourceTree.

Note; our developers are using BitBucket Personal Access Tokens to access source code via GIT commands via command line or via Atlassian Sourcetree
