check if the branch has children using REST API

Hi,
I have a requirement where I have to check if the branch contains any children. is there a REST API way to verify this ?
I have tried , no luck in getting its own children
http://.../rest/api/latest/projects/<proj-name>/repos/<repo-name>/branches?base=<branch-name>
