hello, I'm new to git and I'm learning from the 'Learn Git with Bitbucket' guide. I did all the steps according to the instructions until the git clone command to import the repository to the local computer (step 1 point 8).
Using the https option after entering the password, I get an authentication error. The suggestion in the guide doesn't apply to me because I'm running Ubuntu wsl2 in Windows 11.
This issue is stopping my further learning so how can I solve this problem? I would add that it would be worth updating this tutorial as well, as it is widely recommended on the web (this also applies to gui usability differences).
Hi @Konrad M ,
welcome to the Atlassian community!
Here a useful guide about how to clone a repo https://support.atlassian.com/bitbucket-cloud/docs/clone-a-git-repository/

Hi Fabio,
thanks for the answer but this guide doesn't help, because on ubuntu wsl cloning via https does not work. According to the info from the atlassian community, I need to set a password for the app. But for what application should I set a password to apply clone command in ubuntu terminal. I can't find this in the posts (and it's not just me from what I see). SSh key method doesn't work for me either.

ok i finally found it
create a password for the application in personal settings,
write down this password because after closing the window we will not recover it,
then in the clone command enter the above-mentioned password according to the formula:
git clone https://<bitbucket_username>:<app_password>@bitbucket.org/<repo_name>.git
label name doesn't matter - just create a password, save it and enter into the formula.
It works in Ubuntu wsl
