Why can't I see JIRA projects in BitBucket?

My JIRA and Bitbucket accounts are linked, and I create a new project in JIRA. I then go to Bitbucket to create a repo for the code, and I expect to see that project there to associate the repository to it. Instead, I have to create another project with the same name. This is confusing. When I create a project in JIRA,  it should be available in BitBucket.
