I am planning to migrate this Bitbucket from a PC to a Linux server. The client says he is using PostgreSQL If we are not using PostgreSQL, I don't want to deal migrate it. Unfortunately, I cannot access the PC myself.
My client says his Bitbucket implementation, running on a Windows PC, has 14 repositories totaling nearly 10 GB (found by going to Settings -> Repository Details).
I asked for some directory sizes:
C:\Atlassian\ApplicationData\Bitbucket\shared\data\repositories = 11.2 GB
C:\Program Files\PostgreSQL\9.6\data = 71.3MB
Would this indicate the client really isn't using PostgreSQL after all? How can we prove PostgreSQL is configured?
Hi Tom,
Repositories in Bitbucket Server are stored on disk, the backend database only holds metadata, so it's expected that it is much smaller.
You can check which database is configured by looking at C:\Atlassian\ApplicationData\Bitbucket\shared\bitbucket.properties, there should be a few JDBC properties that will tell you which database is in use.
