What app permissions are required to use Git?

Simon Hobbs March 19, 2019

When you use bitbucket with a google account, you have no password. One solution is to create a password with "app passwords".  There are about 30 permissions, which subset is required for git (e.g. using Sourcetree)?

I would prefer to use SSH keys, but I cant add mine as its already added with another organisation.  In theory its possible to have multiple SSH keys with bitbucket and Mac, but havent managed to get it working yet.

Hi Simon, welcome to the Community :)

I'm not sure what you mean by "what permissions are required to use Git". Maybe you can explain to us a bit more what is your situation and what you're trying to achieve, so we can guide you better.

Regarding the SSH key, if the SSH key you have is already in use in another Bitbucket account, you can create a new one to use with this Bitbucket Cloud account. This is explained at Set up an SSH key.

Hope that helps. Looking forward to your response.

Best regards,

Ana
