Hi @Rogier The,

When using a "JIRA - User directory", the users are read-only and their groups cannot be changed in Bitbucket Server.

To change which group a user belongs to, please update the user in Jira directly and synchronize the directory to propagate the change.

In the Connecting Bitbucket Server to Jira for user management, you'll find the following statement:

Bitbucket Server provides a "read-only" connection to Jira Software for user management. This means that users and groups, fetched from Jira Software, can only be modified or updated in that Jira Software server, rather than in Bitbucket Server.

Let us know!

Thanks, Caterina - Atlassian

Hi Rogier! This seems to be related to the issue we documented in the article Error you cannot add user xxxx to group xxxxxx the user's directory is read only.

Have you followed those instructions already?

If you still need help, can you give us more information about your environment, such as Jira version, Bitbucket version, etc?

Best regards,

Ana
