Trying to import existing git repository using ssh

André Roy June 15, 2020

Hello,

We have a fresh install of JIRA and Bitbucket.  My question is for Bitcket.  I'm trying to import an existing git repository which is currently hosted on an existing server.  The git repository is hosted over ssh protocol and the user requires a private key.

I have given the atlbitbucket user the private key within its home folder's .ssh folder.  I can confirm the atlbitbucket user can clone the git repository via: ssh://gituser@gitServer/path/to/repository.git

However when trying to get bitbucket to import the repository when providing the following urls in the "Clone URL", I keep getting "Please provide a valid clone URL." error:

ssh://gitServer/path/to/repository.git

ssh://gituser@gitServer/path/to/repository.git

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong...

André`
