I started BB by creating an account with my work email. My company has an account with Atlassian mainly for jira. I added a repo and started working. I then realized that others like IT should have access. The IT depratment under my same work email created an Account?/Workspace and added me to the workspace as an admin. They created a group that added IT and myself. I have admin writes on both workspaces. IT can not see my orignal repo (doesn't show it under the IT repo that they are part of that group) so I tried to transfer the repo from the one workspace to the newly created by IT. I request the transfer it states its in process but no one ever receives an email to accept? When I look at all my workspaces (2 of them) I have two line items one for my initial sign up account and the second that IT created. I have been trying everything to get that repo transfered but nothign works. Askign IT they beleive since Im an admin that I shoudl get the email to accept the transfer. I do not get that email. Im stuck trying to transfer. It si very strange as it appears since my copany has an account and I origianlly started with my company email I think I have only 1 account but 2 workspaces. 1 in which IT set up and add myself that I really don't have a personal account? That the transfer doesn't work because Im already in the one account? I'm just confused and can't figure out how to get IT access either I transfer or maybe I just add them to the account of my orignal and they can see that.

Hi spfeifen@mi-jack.com,

Please allow me to give some info first about accounts and workspaces to clarify any confusion around this:

An account is what you use to log in to Bitbucket and also to authenticate when accessing private repositories.
A workspace is like a container for repositories, so every repository belongs to a certain workspace.

When you sign up for a Bitbucket Cloud account, Bitbucket automatically creates a personal workspace for your account.
But you can also create additional workspaces, or be added to other workspaces by a different user.

If you transfer a repository from workspace-A to workspace-B, an email will be sent to all administrators of workspace-B in order to accept the transfer request.

If neither you nor the other admin receives any repository transfer request emails, I would suggest checking first if you are filling in the correct workspace id when you initiate the repository transfer request.

  • You can view all the workspaces your account has access to here: https://bitbucket.org/account/workspaces/
  • On this page, select Manage for the workspace you want to transfer the repo to.
  • On the new page that opens, please note the value of Workspace ID for this workspace.

This is what you need to enter in the New owner (workspace ID) field when you initiate the repository transfer request (and not the workspace name for example).

Can you please confirm if you are using the correct Workspace ID when you initiate the transfer? If not, can you please cancel the existing transfer request, and initiate a new one using the correct workspace id?

Kind regards,
Theodora
