Hi,

I had the same issue as 'Removing prior admin from bitbucket' (https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Bitbucket-questions/Removing-prior-admin-from-bitbucket/qaq-p/2376443) so I followed the steps then could transfer all repositories I wanted to move.

Then I changed workspace id from the original workspace-id to *-old without issue. But having a issue 'This workspace ID is not available.' when I tried to change *-new to the original workspace-id.

Would you help us to change workspace id?

Hello @Michelle Kang and welcome to the Community!

The workspaceIDs must be unique across other workspaces and also usernames.

Personal workspaces were the only exception where the workspaceID and the username could be the same.

Since your "old" workspace was a Personal workspace, although you changed its workspace ID, the user account tied to it is still using that ID as a username and preventing it from being used on your new workspace.

In this case, you would need the user who owns that account to log in and update their username to a different one so that the ID is released to be used in your new workspace.

If that user is no longer with your company, there are a few alternatives :

  • if the user's mailbox is managed by your company, you can try requesting your internal IT team to grant you access to it. That way you can trigger a password reset for the user's bitbucket account and then login with their account and change the username.
  • If the user account is managed by your organization, you can ask one of the Org Admins to delete the user's atlassian account on https://admin.atlassian.com. After the grace period of 14 days, the account will be fully deleted, and the ID will be released to be used.

Hope that helps! Should you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Thank you, @Michelle Kang !
