Happenbox June 7, 2024

Hi All,

I'm having git gc issue...

remote: Repository is over the size limit (4 GB) and will not accept further additions.
remote:
remote: Learn how to reduce your repository size: https://support.atlassian.com/bitbucket-cloud/docs/reduce-repository-size/#Rewind-history-to-undo-large-commits

I'm wondering if someone in support can me to resolve this pls.

Thank you,

Anthony

Hi Anthony,

I checked the repositories you have access to and I saw one with a size of 4 GB. I ran a git gc on the repo, but its size remains the same.

  • The name of the repo where I ran the git gc ends in 'sr'. Can you please confirm if that's the one you're having issues with?

  • Did the repo's size increase because of an accidental large push, or does it have large non-text files throughout its history?

If you accidentally made a large push, you can follow the steps in the link mentioned in the command's output to undo this last push.

Otherwise, you will need to rewrite history to either remove any large non-text files or migrate them to LFS, in order to reduce the repo's size. After you rewrite history, please let me know and I can temporarily increase the repo size limit so you can push your changes.

You can see a detailed reply of mine in another question with info on how to reduce the repo's size and things to take into account:

@Theodora Boudale Thank you for the response.

I followed the instructions sometime over the weekend and I managed to fix it.

I'll not be needing this support right now.

Kind regards,

Anthony
