Recovering access to old account

I'd like to recover access to my old Bitbucket account, which had a private tech demo I'd like to revive.
I last used this account when Bitbucket still had its username based account system separate from Atlassian. The username in question is simply the domain name of my email (without the TLD). Following other suggestions I created this account with an email that had previously been associated with that account. But when I go to register a username, it says "username already in use" instead of giving me control.
Is there anything I can do to recover this account?

Thank you

@Eugene T Welcome to the Atlassian community

I will escalate this to Atlassian so their support can take a look at the account.

Hello @Brant Schroeder

Thanks for bringing this to our attention :)

Hey @Eugene T

Welcome to the community!

Since we will need you to share some private information to investigate your old account, I have created an internal support ticket for you. You should soon receive an e-mail with the link to the internal ticket in the e-mail of your community account. In case you don't receive it, please let me know so I can share it here.

Thank you!
