I am reaching out for assistance regarding an issue with my Bitbucket account. Previously, I always accessed my account using the login ...@gmail.com and password. However, on January 20, 2025, I attempted to log in by selecting the "Sign in with Google" option. After choosing my Google account (...@gmail.com), the system unexpectedly created a new, empty account with the same email address. Here are the key details of the issue: I did not authorize the recreation or deletion of my existing account. All my data and repositories associated with the original account are now inaccessible. This appears to be a system error or an authentication issue. Summary of the Problem: My original account, with login ...@gmail.com, is no longer accessible. Logging in via Google now leads to a new, empty account without any of my repositories. I suspect a system error occurred during the authentication process.

Hi and welcome to the community.

I see that you created two support tickets as well about this issue and you mentioned the URL of a Bitbucket repo. This repository is administered by an account that has a different primary email address. That account has not been deleted.

The email address you used to make this post may have been an email alias in that Bitbucket account (I cannot confirm this, since another account has been created already) but login to Bitbucket Cloud is only possible with an account's primary email address, not with email aliases. The "Sign in with Google" option created a new account because there was no existing account with that email address as a primary.

If that account belongs to you, you'll need to log in with its primary email address. If you don't remember what it is, I suggest trying to log in to https://bitbucket.org/ with different email addresses you own, until you log in to the correct account. Please keep in mind that if you get asked to provide a username when logging in with a certain email address, this means that there is no Bitbucket account with that email as a primary, so you can skip the email from that process.

I'm afraid that we cannot disclose the account's primary email address for privacy reasons.

Kind regards,
Theodora
