Is my single user private set of repositories safe even after bitbucket end-of-life?

I have been using bitbucket for a few private repositories for some time.

I just saw that bitbucket had an end-of-life in 2024.

Does that mean my repositories are less safe now?

Hi @delson,

Welcome to Atlassian Community!

Currently it is only Data Center versions of Bitbucket that have EOL dates, which you can view here. Bitbucket Cloud is continuously updated so EOL does not exist in Cloud.

If you are on Bitbucket DC and on a version that has been EOL:d then yes, you would be less safe since you would not be able to apply security updates to it.

Hi Mikael. My pleasure to be here.

I very much appreciate your reply and the information!

Just for my understanding, if you get a spare moment, how do I know whether or not I'm on Bitbucket DC, and, if so, whether or not a version has been EOL:d?

-David

If you are using Bitbucket Cloud the URL would look something like this:

bitbucket.org/workspace_name/

If you are using DC it would usually look like this:

bitbucket.mycompany.com/...

Much appreciated!

So, then, since my URL is directly bitbucket.org/... rather than bitbucket.mycompany.com, I will just go on as I have been.

I will also browse around to get an idea of what those other interesting sounding options you folks have are all about.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

-David
