How to add an in-line comment and create a Jira issue?

Virgil Grigoras June 23, 2020

Hi there,

I'm using Bitbucket (server) and Jira (server).

Both applications are connected through "application links".

Can anyone tell me please if it's possible to

1. create an in-line comment inside the source code

2. create a Jira issue from that comment

Thanks and best regards

  1. Click on the + icon on the beginning of a line of code. It will show up when you hoover your mouse pointer over it.
  2. See https://support.atlassian.com/bitbucket-cloud/docs/create-a-jira-issue-within-a-pull-request/#:~:text=Choose%20a%20repository%20and%20go,Choose%20an%20issue%20type

That's what I tried. Unfortunately only the line gets marked if I click on it (see the image below).

Regarding 2)
Your link says:

Choose a repository and go to Pull requests

Maybe it's only possible to create a Jira issue if I'm inside a pull request?

I wanted to attach a comment to a line (and create the jira) issue while browsing in master or a branch.

Best regards

Hi @Virgil Grigoras ,

You can only create a comment in a pull request. In the picture below, I created a pull request. And you see a + sign where the little hand is. Click that and you can place a comment.
