Hey there.
We had recently signed up with Bitbucket. Our team wants to now add a Jira sub.
It appears a bitbucket account and Atlassian account are not linked?
I found the following article indicating Bitbucket accounts will be upgraded to Atlassian accounts? https://support.atlassian.com/bitbucket-cloud/docs/upgrade-to-atlassian-account/
So if we did not purchase Jira bundled with bitbucket, as of today we need to purchase a new Jira sub, manually integrate and billing for the products is separate? Correct?
Welcome to Atlassian community.
So technically speaking you are right - Bitbucket and Jira Cloud is managed separately and billed separately.
If you started with Bitbucket and added Jira later on - you need to sign up and create your Jira cloud site >> then you can follow Connect Bitbucket Cloud to Jira Software Cloud to maximize both Bitbucket and Jira.
You can sign up for Jira Cloud if you have not yet done so using this link: Jira Software cloud sign up
