I completely don't understand how I am supposed to use my app password.
When I push to remote I get the message "change the password used in your Git client
to an app password" for git over HTTPS. I have created an app password but I don't know how to change to it.
Please could someone give a simple example of what I need to do?
Thank you. The key point I had missed is that you must remove all existing Bitbucket credentials or it goes on expecting your old (non-app) password. I use both Linux and MacOs and had to work out how to do it for each. After that a push command (for example) requests the new password once and then all seems fine (fingers crossed).
I did not find this key message in the Atlassian docs - but maybe it is there somewhere?
Hi @susanpyne1
Going forward, you need to authenticate to your account while cloning repositories or if you need to make API calls, App passwords are used
Please find the full documentation here
