I can not log in to my bitbucket account using my Atlassian account.
When I log in to Atlassian using my regular e-mail address, it tells me I have to create a bitbucket cloud account. but when I enter my already existing bitbucket account name, the dialog says the name is already taken.
I'm pretty sure I'm using the correct e-mail address assigned to the bitbucket account, but it's not working.
How can I resolve this?
Ok, so this tells us your "regular" email address does not have a Bitbucket Cloud account.
When you enter the account name, it is already "taken", so you need to log in with the Cloud account it it belongs to (which is obviously not your regular email address).
You'll need to go through the forgot password / account process to find out what email you registered your Bitbucket with.
