Git compatibility with v7.17.15

ADC UK February 23, 2023

I can't find any specific release notes for LTS v7.17.15 released in Feb.
The 7.17 general support page on identifies v2.33.* of Git as the latest supported version - is that still the case?

Thanks
Mike

Hey Mike,

Yeah, you are correct! Bitbucket Release notes for 7.17 shows that Git version 2.33.x is the latest version supported for that version.

However, I would like to mention that Bitbucket 7.17 is not the current LTS version. It would be Bitbucket 7.21 and you could check its release notes here and supported platforms here (Git version supported is until 2.39.x (from 7.21.9)

I hope this was helpful and answered your doubts :)

Thanks Victor - sorry one more question.
Can you upgrade directly from 7.17 to 7.21??

Thanks
Mike

Hey Mike, no problem at all!

Yeah, you could, I just wanna point out that you might be migrating from ElasticSearch to OpenSearch on the new 7.21 version and I would like to highlight below:

* If you are using the bundled search, it will be changed to OpenSearch and it might took a while to reindex

* If you are using a remote search, you don't have to worry. You can keep Elastic on a supported version.

* Make sure to checkout all the supported platforms for 7.21 and validate that everything is on the supported version

* Also, if you are using a custom Java version, on Bitbucket 7.21 you will need to use our Java version.

Also, not sure if you are running you instances on Linux or Windows, but Atlassian has announced the end of support for Windows

Related to the upgrade itself, you can find more information - Bitbucket Server Upgrade Guide
