Git Fetch randomly returns: "status code 128: remote: Invalid username or password"

I have started to see in a random manner, the following error while running a Jenkins job:

returned status code 128:
stdout: 
stderr: remote: Invalid username or password

I have manually  checked credentials and they are correct. It's been happening approximately half of times job runs.
