Error on workspace creation, but then workspace is already taken on second attempt!

Yossi Geretz September 6, 2024

I'm getting an error on workspace creation but then I'm finding that on a subsequent attempt, the feedback reports that the workspace is already taken. I'm rapidly burning through all of the names I'd like to reasonably give my workspace, but the most pressing issue is that I'm not able to create a workspace and very little direction is provided in the feedback to let me know what is the problem, and how I can mitigate it.

Thanks for any help which you can provide!

Hi Yossi and welcome to the community!

Apologies for the inconvenience caused by this. There seems to be a bug when a workspace is created from this page and we are looking into this.

In the meantime, if you want to create another workspace, you can do it from https://admin.atlassian.com/ to avoid these errors.

  1. Open https://admin.atlassian.com/
  2. Select an Atlassian organization on this page (in case you are a member of multiple orgs)
  3. Select Products from the top menu
  4. Select the option Add product near the top right corner
  5. Select Bitbucket, and then provide the workspace details on the next page

Kind regards,
Theodora

BTW, when I go to to https://bitbucket.org/blahdeblahbla the workspace is there! So the workspace is actually created.

It routes me to https://bitbucket.org/blahdeblahbla/workspace/overview/

So my workspace which I need has actually been created (the blahdeblahbla workspace was just an example) and I have no idea why I was getting the failure message for every workspace. Annoying, but hopefully I can move past it.
