Effect of duplicate licence on bitbucket web access

Martyn Chandley December 15, 2020

Hello fellow bucketeers (is that the right term?)

I have a question or two about licences on bitbucket.

We have been trying to upgrade our server from 4.3.2 to the latest version on 7.x.x

Our Bitbucket server is a virtual machine on CentOS 7 and in order to minimise impacts and outages we took the decision to clone the origional server and upgrade the clone.   However, when running the clone with the upgraded bitbucket (after following all the pre-installation and installation/upgrade guides) we found when we sent a request to the database servers we were getting no response back.  We did not even get an ACK returned.  The database just sat there.   I have investigated this and we may have a .dll file missing on our MS-SQL Server database server which is involved in the jdbc connection and authorisation.   However it did occur to me that maybe this was due to a licence conflict.  I was wondering if the experts here could perhaps offer suggestions.

1. Our licence is a per user licence , what would the effect of an expired licence be? Is the licence based on MAC address?

2.  What is the effect of a conflicting identical licences?

Any thoughts , suggestions and/or advice would be greatly appreciated.
