Hi All,

We have recently started using bitbucekt pipelines for the automated deployments.  I had a question on CloudFormation Pipe, when I rerun the pipelines it updates the CloudFormation stack even if there are no changes in the stack. Please advise if there is any option in the CloudFormation pipe, which can be configured to avoid updating the stack.

Cheers,

Shekhar

Hi Shekhar,

that is not possible with Pipelines atm. Maybe AWS has a feature that allows for that? You could try contacting them.

In Pipelines there is a feature request to make step execution conditional of changed files: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/BCLOUD-16560?error=login_required&error_description=Login+required&state=692b063e-ce7a-4067-af5b-ae0f888fe925

It is not implemented yet, but likely will be picked up in the next few weeks. So keep an eye on that ticket and then you could use that feature to only execute your CloudFormation stack if the template file changes.

Sorry to not have a better solution atm,

Max
