Bitbucket server won't create an application link to JIRA On Demand while running behind nginx proxy

Tyler February 23, 2018

We are running Bitbucket Server 5.8 behind an nginx 1.12 proxy with SSL terminating at the proxy. The JIRA On Demand instance absolutely refuses to make a connection to the Bitbucket server while it is behind the proxy. We removed Bitbucket from behind the proxy for testing purposes and JIRA connected to Bitbucket seamlessly. Trouble is we need Bitbucket to reside behind the proxy, and after endless google searches, haven't been able to find a fix or logical reason for why the connection is failing. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

@Tyler Williams

Did you check the jira logfiles while trying to connect bitbucket (running behind nginx)

we have a similar setup using apache, that works without issues.

Hi Kurt,

  Unfortunately I don't have access to the JIRA log files as it is an OnDemand instance that Atlassian is hosting. The Bitbucket logs don't seem to show any issues when I checked them.

Hi Tyler,

what does the nginx logfiles show?

Can you provide the reverseproxy config that you use?
