Bitbucket installer dosnt start; archive installation missing JRE; need some help

Maurice Grys July 14, 2019

Hi there, im new on Jira and Bitbucket.

I got a smal Team (less then 10 users) and bought the 10 user license of jira server and bitbucket.

The installation of jira was, with the installer, very simple. Everything is up and running fine (for now).

But.. now i wanted to install the bitbucket server.
I downloaded the installer, make it executable, run the insaller, and can "configure" my setup until the installer said => start installation...
At this point the installer hangs up.... the prozess freeze and nothing happend for ... yes maybe around 2 houres.
After that time i killed the process. download the tar.gz archive. extract it and copy all files to /opt/bitbucket... then i try to start it via the start-bitbucket.sh

At that point i got the error message:

The JRE_HOME environment variable is not defined correctly
This environment variable is needed to run this program
Edit set-jre-home.sh and define JRE_HOME

Startup has been aborted

So.. which java => no output
Okay... so i installed openjdk-11-jre with all depencies....
wich java => /usr/bin/java
Perfect... so again a startup...
=> no JRE found setup in set-jre-home.sh
... allright open the file with nano, input /usr/bin/java at 4, save exit try again...

and again ... no JRE_HOME variable found....
so export JRE_HOME=/usr/bin/java
export JAVA_HOME=/usr/bin/java
start again.....
No JRE_HOME variable found......

OK... i got an other server.. try there....
Same problems...
Ok try an other distribution....
Same problems....

So.. i dont haf any ideas how to fix that and get bitbucket run.....
Current Server is an i7-3700k with 64GB RAM ... Jira, MySQL OpenJDK 11 installed....
Distribution Ubuntu 18.04 LTS

Can someone help me please?

Kind regards
Moe
