Hi there,
Assume that we have 100 users in our local Bitbucket server and we are now facing an issue on the hardware device of our server therefore the plan has been taken to migrate the server with all the Bitbucket repositories and users also which are integrated with Jira software. Is it possible without any single file of data lose.
Once we changed the server the user who were already using the Bitbucket server should be able to access the same data and can be able to push and pull without any damages of the distributed versions.
What happen ? when the Java or Windows updates effect the Bitbucket server from running, So in this case we have to be able to export the all information in a folder and install new server then import the old information like the database export.
Is it possible ?
Hi Aslam,
Bitbucket Server stores data in two places - the home directory (this is where the actual repositories reside) and its database (this is where the metadata, such as users, pull requests, etc are stored). If you take full backups of both, you will be able to restore the data on any other machine and continue working with the data as of the last backup.
You can find more details at https://confluence.atlassian.com/bitbucketserver/data-recovery-and-backups-776640050.html.

Hi Aslam,
I'm not sure I understand what you're after when you say "visual instruction" - can you elaborate?

A video won't help you, as it will be of a specific version and configured differently to yours, so it will all look different. The document Christian pointed you too is more generic and better at covering all possible configurations.

It's in the documentation - wherever you put the home directory on install needs to be copied to your safe backup place.
