BitBucket Viewing Commits

Lee Morton December 5, 2012

When i click on a commit to view details on what files have changed, bit bucket loads all the diffs for the files automatically on that page. On even relatively small commits of a few large source files (300kb) that have had all the indents changed this load takes ages and hangs the browser (IE9) until its done. Is there currently an option to only show the diffs that you ask for? If not I think there should be.

Regards,

Lee

Lee,

You can view the history for any specific file from the Source view of your repository. Viewing the individual file will present you with options to view that file's history.

As for the commit view, it was designed to show as much data as possible from a commit when loading. We have a hard timeout of 30 seconds when attempting to view large commits and their diffs. In this case, it sounds like we efficiently gathered the diff information for some very large files while is actually the preferred case as most modern browsers handle the amount of information we can gather in 30 seconds well.

Of course, we do also support IE and we'd like to understand more about your environment. Can you provide to us a link to the commit in question along with your system specifications (RAM, CPU, etc.)? If you'd to provide this information in private, please open a support request to https://support.atlassian.com (free account).
