What I did (on Windows):
1) Installed latest Atlassian Plugin SDK
2) Ran atlas-create-bitbucket-plugin to create a test add-on
3) Changed bitbucket version and bitbucket data version properties to "5.0.0" in the pom.xml
4) Ran atlas-run
In console it says:
bitbucket started successfully in 72s at http://localhost:7990/bitbucket
Page at http://localhost:7990/bitbucket reports Tomcat error "resource not found". So tomcat had started, bitbucket server web app was deployed, but never started.
I experienced the same behaviour on Linux as well.
Please advice what to do. I have no permissions to create issues at Atlassian JIRA tracker, so I'm using this way to contact Bitbucket Server devs.
For Bitbucket 5.0.0 you need to invoke atlas-run like this.
atlas-run -u 6.3.0-fef7990
I'm sure eventually Atlassian will get things working again so that "atlas-run" is all you need, but for now just add "-u 6.3.0-fef7990".
