Access only to subfolders in a repo

I've granted access to a user group named xxx-Engineering to the xxxrepository. Is there a way to create more granular access for specific subfolders within that repository? I want to grant access to two new users to only two subfolders. My instinct says this might not be possible and that we would need to move these subfolders to a new repository with a new group for access. Does anyone know of any tricks to achieve this?

As you though, it is not possible. The solution is to split the code to multiple repositories.
