Weird markdown auto formatting behavior

This is not exclusive to Bitbucket, as I've experience some idiosyncratic behaviors with the "auto" markdown formatting in Jira also.

But here is a recent example from Bitbucket. For some weird, weird reason, if you have a list (bullet or numbered), but you also have some inline code formatting `a la backticks`, a list items will randomly disappear once you save the comment. I have gone for plain text lists for now because I can not get the 2nd of 3 list items to stay.

This does not happen in Jira–why is this auto formatting logic not shared between Atlassian products?

I always feel like I'm fighting the auto formatter in the Bitbucket/Jira editors. And since the behavior between products is not even consistent, it's extra frustrating.

I tried to give feedback in Bitbucket, but an error occurred, so I feel like this is the only avenue I have to get Atlassian's attention.
