Questions on Bitbucket Cloud billing model changes

Hi everyone,

We are making a change to our billing model to align Bitbucket Cloud with the rest of Atlassian's products.

From October 31st, 2023, Bitbucket Cloud will begin counting all workspace members as billable users. This is a change from our current model of only billing for users who have access to a private repository.

Due to this change, customers with users who only have access to public repos or users with no access to any repos will see an increase in their bill due to a higher billable user count. Or if you're on a free plan and your user count per the new definition is more than 5, then your repos become read-only until you remove users or upgrade.

Please review the blog on this announcement and ask your questions here. The blog also has instructions on how to manage your user counts.

What about users that are tagged as DEACTIVATED?

Edit:

The DEACTIVATED users do not show up in the User Directory page. Only when you go to view the groups, does it show users who were in the group, but are now deactivated. We are using Atlassian Access and these users would have been disabled in our identity provider.

@Curtis If the user shows up in your user directory page then they will be counted. If you don't need those users anymore, you can follow the instructions in the blog and remove those users.

@[deleted] just saw your edit - Deactivated users will not be billed. There is nothing you need to do. Only active members who show up in the user directory page.

Will groups on the Academic/Community plan be affected by this change?

@caseyamcl

there are no changes to workspaces that are on Academic or Community plans.

Those workspace are not impacted by this change. Atlassian is dedicated to supporting those organizations and this change doesn't affect them.

Thank you
