Bitbucket Cloud is limiting the Branch list view to 100 pages

Hi everybody,

We wanted to share an update with our customer community about changes coming to Bitbucket Cloud UI shortly.

Starting on June 24, 2024, we are limiting the displayed results on the Branches list to 100 pages, or 2,500 total branches. This means that repositories with more than 2,500 branches may see truncated results on that page.

This change will not impact the number of branches the product supports in general. All branches will also continue to be available in all drop-downs in the product. Search capability for branches will also remain unchanged. A work-around to get to what used to be the last page is to re-sort the list of branches by clicking the Updated column. This will continue to limit the list of branches to 2,500 but the oldest branches will be shown first.

Users whose workflows generate a lot of branches are encouraged to follow these best practices to maintain their branch count at healthy levels:

• Manage your unmerged branches following this guide
• Manage your merged branches:
  • Select Close source branch checkbox option when merging a pull request
  • Purge old merged branches from the Branches list page. You can do this one by one or using the Delete mutiple option from the top right corner.
  • Purge your unnecessary branches from the git client using the delete command
