Start Node server and move on to next step

Hello Guys,

i want to build a static page through my piplines. My Website ist based on Vue, Nuxt and Strapi as Headless CMS.

Lokally i can run my Strapi server with npm run strapi and then run nuxt generate to get my static site.

How can i transform this into my pipline deployment? When i run the strapi server, the pipline do not move on to the next step .... because it is still running.

I have seen that there are service, but i do not know howto use them. In my point of view i need a service that just run a script npm run strapi... but this is not the way they are use to?

There are couple of things that you're asking here, let me try to narrow it down:

• Each pipeline step starts and stops Docker container and this prevents any process that you want to run to be shared between steps.
• If you can start and stop the same process in both steps and both to share the same generated data you could use artifacts to copy it from the first one to subsequent steps as described in https://confluence.atlassian.com/bitbucket/using-artifacts-in-steps-935389074.html
• If you need the same process running for all of your tasks to be completed you should probably look at services, check out our docs first https://confluence.atlassian.com/bitbucket/use-services-and-databases-in-bitbucket-pipelines-874786688.html
  The way I would suggest you set it up is to create Docker image of your Strapi server and run as a service, then in the step script run your commands.
