Meet the Beacon team 👋

You have the eyes and ears of our product leadership team for Beacon, we are excited to introduce you to our new features built specifically for threat detection and alerting on Atlassian Cloud products! Our goal to make sure that what we build today and tomorrow meets the needs of you and your team responsible for keeping your collaboration safe.

How about a quick introduction from us, and we’d love for you to introduce yourself when you join!

  • Welcome! My name is Trevor, Principal Product Manager and lead for Beacon, a product built to give you the intelligence needed to have a security analyst in your pocket. I love the product management craft and look forward to learning from you all.

  • Hi! I’m Erin, Senior Product Designer on Beacon. I do research to learn more about what would make security specialist’s job easier. That research helps inform the path for the best user experience we can build. I even do some pixel pushing too! I love hearing about experiences and feedback, so count me in anytime you’d like to chat.

  • Hello there! I’m Melissa, Product Marketing lead for Beacon. I love to connect with customers and understand not only how our products work for you, but get your feedback on the good, the bad, and the ugly of security. If you have an idea for Beacon or just want to talk about security in general I’m always happy to have a :coffee: chat!

  • G’Day! I’m Tygrr, a Product Manager on Beacon focused on building the detections that send alerts to you. We love feedback, are very excited about this project and we want to hear from you all. Please don’t be a stranger!

Please join in on the discussions. No question, idea or feedback is off limits!

Hi @Melissa Miller and Beacon Team

Can you please let me know when will the updates start rolling for Beacon

I requested two features that would add value to the interesting product that Atlassian has come up with when I connected with Trevor :-)

  • To have incoming webhooks feature in place (for example, to list the events like issue deleted) and also detect if it was done for a single issue or bulk issues
  • Allow the option to add the events from Audit logs from Jira Software, Confluence & Jira Service Management
  • Allow critical events to be added to Beacon (examples include group creation, permission given to projects either via rules or by directly adding users/groups/roles via permission scheme)

Other queries include:

Is the Bitbucket & Opsgenie integration planned with Beacon?

Integration with Data Center Products or is there anything similar planned for the on-premise edition?

Please let me know

Thanks,
Pramodh

Hey @Pramodh M! My name's Dana, and I just joined the Product Marketing team for Beacon. Great to meet you!

Jumping in here to share some answers to your questions above:

  • Getting Beacon updates: We're currently shipping updates to Beacon on an almost weekly cadence! We're going to be more announcing those updates more publicly to give everyone clarity on changes as they happen—more to come on that soon. :)
  • Feature requests: Love the feedback about bringing in additional events + product-specific usage events. We're not looking into those areas just yet, but we're always open to feedback and learning more about it.
  • Integrations: Currently, our coverage includes Jira and Confluence. That said, we're actively thinking about Bitbucket/OpsGenie detection coverage, and how we integrate best with both of those. We don't have plans to integrate with data center or server products.

We seriously appreciate your feedback, and your questions here—please keep 'em coming!
