Migrating to SQL Server

Jose Salinas August 18, 2011
We have in production an instance of Bamboo version 3.1.4 buil 2415.
The idea is migrate to Bamboo to an SQL Server database.
I would like know if Bamboo provide a similar tool included in FisheEye/Crucible
where the migration to SQL Server can be done from the Crucible administration
console.
I think that it process is better than the process of create a DB buckup and then
make a migration with native tools.

Thanks in advance.
Kind regards,
Jose

You don't need a db backup / native tools to migrate Bamboo.

The process is fairly easy:

  1. set up a fresh Bamboo instance on SQL server,
  2. export Bamboo into a file from Bamboo Administration console.
  3. Import the file into the new instance (you can also do it during setup of the new instance).

Thanks Przemek.

According to documentation http://confluence.atlassian.com/display/BAMBOO031/Exporting+Data+for+Backup there is a limitation when we performed the exportation.

This limits the maximum ZIP file length to 4GB and exports will fail if the resultating ZIP is over that.
