Is server Id unique for each instance on the same server.

Hi,

We are planning to have two instance (v5.12.2.1 and v6.9) on the same bamboo server.

Can we have a single server id, for getting the license key to be used for multiple bamboo instances in same server.

Also can the server id be changed after we get license.

Thanks,

Abhradeep

Hi @Abhradeep Roy

Can we have a single server id, for getting the license key to be used for multiple bamboo instances in same server.

Technically you can, but you should not. There are two implications here:

  1. A Bamboo production license should be used in one server at a time. Should not be shared. The license is per instance.
  2. To have an instance with the same Server ID you will need to clone the installation and as consequence, you will have problems to link these two instances to one shared Bitbucket server. The Server ID is what helps the application links feature to identify the instance.

Regarding the Server ID saved in the license side, you don't need to worry about it. A license is initially associated with a Server ID, but it can be used in any server instance.

Also can the server id be changed after we get license.

You can't change it and as shared above you don't need to change it.

If you have a commercial license of a tear above starter you should be able to generate another license for testing purposes or to maintain a staging Bamboo instance. Details on how to get this license can be found at:

Please let me know if you still have any questions on this matter.
