Include/exclude pattern and change detection option

So I have one repo and I have three builds. Repo has front end and back end code. 

I am trying to create three builds

1> FE  only

2> BE only

3> FE+BE only.

My reqmt is:

\A> i want to create a plan branch (on FE_only) for a bitbucket branch  only when when changes are made to files in  a/x, a/y or z folders of a particular repo.  

B> I also want to create a plan branch on BE_only  when a branch "doesn't" change files in a/x, a/y or z

I tried many patterns, but nothing seemed to work. Any pattern I give creates a plan branch in both the above mentioned plans. Can you help me with the regex i should use to implement A and B?

for FE+BE build I'll create a plan branch irrespective of where the change happened. So thats easy.

Exclude/include pattern doesn't work for branch detection. It's possible to use pattern for branch path
